The Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater (218 West 13th Street in Vancouver) is seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join the parish staff.  All positions require a successful pre-employment background check and completion of Safe Environment training.  We offer the following positions to serve this historic Catholic community of 550+ households in downtown Vancouver.


Liturgical Support:  This part-time (15 hours/week) position will support the Pastor in his celebration of sacred liturgies.  Duties and responsibilities will include opening the parish campus for weekend and special liturgical celebrations, assuring set up of the church environment, assisting parishioners planning weddings and funerals, reviewing the inventory of liturgical supplies and securing the campus.   

Music Director:  This part-time (15 hours/week) position will support the Pastor by assuring music for all parish liturgies and other designated liturgical celebrations.  Duties and responsibilities will include assuring music for all parish liturgies and designated liturgical celebrations; recruiting, scheduling and directing cantors and musicians; assuring appropriate music for weddings and funerals; and assisting parishioners needing music for those celebrations. Experience as a pipe-organist preferred but not required.   

Organist:  This position will accompany and support the congregation as it sings in worship at its weekend services; this position could be combined with the Music Director position above.  3-5 years experience required.

St. Rose  - Pastoral Assistant for Evangelization, Service, and Outreach
20 hours/week


The Pastoral Assistant for Evangelization, Service, and Outreach is a highly organized person, and a committed Catholic who coordinates service projects for local parishioners to participate in. They will serve as a point person for evangelization efforts, with coaching provided by Evangelical Catholic. They will help to organize an annual service trip to Tijuana Mexico, through Esperanza International, as well as other service projects in our local community. They will recruit parishioners to help with these projects and find places for parishioners to serve the parish.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinating a yearly trip for young parishioners to serve in Tijuana, Mexico through Esperanza International
• Planning service projects for our youth Confirmation Candidates
• Maintaining database of parishioner interest/gifts/talents and finds opportunities for parishioners to serve inside the parish and outside the parish
• Serving as point person for evangelization efforts in the parish

REGIONAL PASTORAL ASSISTANT FOR ADMINISTRATION (PAA)  This position is in Cowlitz County and encompasses St. Catherine Mission in Cathlamet, St. Mary Church in Castle Rock, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Kelso, and St. Rose Church and School in Longview. The successful candidate will be an active, practicing Catholic with a degree in accounting, business administration, or related field along with 5+ years of experience.  The PAA works closely with the pastor and principal and is responsible for the areas of: human resources, finances, and facilities including technology. This position assures compliance with Archdiocesan policies, and local, state & federal laws. This is a full-time benefit eligible position with full benefits.  Salary is in accordance with Archdiocese of Seattle salary scales.
